An Affair of the Heart
The first part of the year always reminds me of Valentine’s Day and Bridal Season. Bridal Season surprisingly is all year around, but May and June always seem to ramp up sales for Bustiers, Corsets, Trousseaus, Bachelorette Parties and Bridal Showers.
Its magical to watch the brides-to-be come into our Retail location at Pampered Passions Fine Lingerie. Its a wonderous, magical time in their lives and they have so many hopes and dreams. The one thing we share with the brides is to enjoy their wedding day. Get all of the details out of the way so they can enjoy their day and dont sweat the family politics or small stuff.
Here are a few tips to make your day come off without a hitch:
Remember your wedding day is about you and your husband. Its really not about Aunt Betty who really had hoped for pink napkins instead of periwinkle ones.
Always purchase 2 pair of stockings, if you plan to wear them. The one issue we hear more than any is the bride was so nervous she ran her stockings while pulling them up for the first time. This can really foul up your “chi” before you even walk down the aisle!
Bustiers and Corsets: if you have your dress find a lingerie store that you can actually bring your dress in and try on your undergarments. Every piece of lace and boning in your busteir can make a big difference. Make sure you try your undergarments on before your final fitting.
If your dress is beaded in the mid-section, you can probably plan on being able to do anything all under. If your dress in thinner material try to plan on a bustier without any boning like the Felina item# 7643 , what we call the “straight-jacket”. Go up a bandwidth and this bustier should fit you perfectly!
If you can get away with a strapless bra, do so as you will be able to wear it again and again versus a bustier, which you will not wear very often ever again.
Have your friends and family purchase your Wedding Trousseau for you. Find a Lingerie Store both on line, http://www.pamperedpassions.com that also has a Retail Store that have a Bridal Registry. This way anyone from all over the country can purchase your fine lingerie for you. You select what you wish for, your friends and family purchase it for you, that easy!
Purchase 2 leg garters, one to keep and one to throw out to your bridal party.
If your Bustier shows even a tad under your dress at bra level in the center, add some bling, a rhinestone or two and the bling will show, not the bra when you are dancing or bending over.
Your Bustier or Corset is not going to be completely, ideally comfortable but when trying one on unbuckle your pants and fold them over. Also when trying on a bustier move around in it, dance in it, put your arms over your head,sit in it, make sure its a good fit. You do not want any additional what we call “wings” hanging out over the sides under your arms. Pull your breast tissue in towards the front of your breasts. Go up a cup size or bandwidth if it is not a good fit.
Something borrowed something blue ideas…….
Hanky Panky offers a wonderful Sworski crystal “I do” thong and “Bride thong in light blue, ivory or white.
Lola Luna offers a thong called “Alges” which is blue and cream and is beautiful!
Shirley of Hollywood offers a garter that is white and light blue.
Shapewear is a wonderful thing! There are many brands out there and if you are in need of additional support, you can actually find many brands that can smooth out your hips or other areas of concern and also come up above your bustier to smooth out your bustier as well. Many shapewear items go all the way up to your bra line.
Dont wear pantyhose or stockings from the month of July-September for your added comfort!
Fishnets always give a saucy finish to your gown. There are also plenty of stockings that have crystal embellishments and wedding bells or bows.
Enhancers for bustiers are a hot tip if you need a little extra what we call “something something” to give you a little extra lift. NuBras can also do this for you as well. If you are needing an extra cup size, the silicone NuBra is amazing, if you are in need of coverage and cleavage but not necessarily support, try the Featherlites, Seamless or Aprhodite version of the NuBra. Dont forget the Cleanser as you can wear these items up to 70 times, the cleanser does not break down the adhesive.
Fashion Tape is a must! Hollywood Tape is amazing for hemming, keeping blouses together, keeping your bra straps hidden et al…..
Lastly, you are serious about your lingerie, make sure you have some Forever New packets for your Honeymoon, so you can clean your lingerie. Forever New allows your lingerie to last up to 30% longer than even Woolite. We swear by it!
Remember that every day is your Anniversary, everyday is Valentine’s Day. Appreciate eachother and adore eachother and I guarantee you your marriage will be a very special experience for decades to come!

Valentine’s Day Should Be a Daily Luxury
Call me Crazy….or a hopeless Romantic, but Valentine’s Day should be everyday. You love, honor and cherish your significant other every moment of everyday. If your thoughts are positive, loving and good almost every moment of everyday, the synergy should come back to you full circle.
Its a profound place, a most trusting place to come from, vulnerable at that, but if you are bewitched body and soul, count your blessings, as not everbody expereinces this even in their lifetime.
Watching love grow in many ways is an amazing thing….I see it everyday in our Retail Store at Pampered Passions Fine Lingerie. Love and being adored is an amazing thing. If you have been adored once in your lifetine to the degree I am speaking of, you could pass away tomorrow and your life would be complete.
One gentleman came into the store and he was proposing in Oregon and wanted to propose with our Fine Lingerie. Needless to say she said, overwhelmingly, Yes!
2 ladies in their 20’s came into our store and they were going to Vail for the weekend with their husbands. They wished to purchase some Lingerie for the trip. I did not see the two ladies for about 10 months, when they brought their new babies in. They both acknowledged the babies were created in Vail and Pampered Passions Fine Lingerie was a significant part of the weekend. They call their two babies Pampered Passions babes!
Lastly, a woman was shopping at http://www.pamperedpassions.com looking for something with pearls. She mentioned her husband just bought and surprised her with a double Opera strand of pearls. She purchased a double strand Bracli pearl thong for her husband. Every woman needs a strand of pearls, she wished to return the favor.
We have seen so much love come through our doors over the years we have been in business. So many meaningful stories, so many couples loving, reviving, or appreciating what they have and the journey they are on.
Valentine’s Day truly is a daily luxury, you can create the most meaningful of relationships with a little “frosting” on top, dont be surprised if you end up in a Fine Lingerie Store! Its the start of a most wonderful, full-filling revival of any relationship, whatever stage of your life you might be in!

When Underwire Just Wont Do!
Women ask me all the time…so what bra do you wear? I may be the ONLY owner of a bra business that does NOT own a bra, nor do I wear one.
Customers look at me quite perplexed and in wonderment, not quite knowing what to say this also encompasses the Bra Supplier Reps that call on Pampered Passions Fine Lingerie.
Its quite confusing, although it makes perfect sense and comfort to me, and many of our “Customer Converts” who do not wear underwire every single day.
If you are a AA,A or B cup you don’t have to wear underwire everyday of the week. If you are C cup up to a DD, there are bras that can be worn that do not have underwire for at least one day out of your week. The facts are these…..
It is not healthy to have underwire tightly worn every single day of the week under your arms and breast tissue. Some women even sleep in underwire which we do our best to correct and educate these women that non-underwire alternatives are plentiful these days.
There are also camisole alternatives with and without microfibre that are wonderful alternatives at least one day a week. Bodysuits as well, which is what I personally wear everyday. The microfibre camisoles from Arianne, Cosabella Shelf camisoles, and many other brands do exist.
I happen to be a “38ish Bish”. Before launching into the Lingerie Industry which was by “default”, I found myself personally challenged with fit and comfort. A sales lady at Vickie’s made me feel like an Alien from another planet being as she put it, I was “wide and shallow” with small “B” breasts. Wow, I felt like the feature at a freak show after this encounter!
Our 40 bandwidth ladies LOVE Pampered Passions Fine Lingerie. If you are a 40 bandwidth+ and you are a B, C or D, in particular camisoles are a wonderful thing for you. There are so many styles of camisoles to choose from including ones you can wear to work, under jackets, that also refine your midsection. When I am fitting a fuller figured women, I always take in a camisole. I show her this alternative, she pops it over her head or over her feet, and voila! She stares at herself in amazement in the mirror. Her “ladies” are up, her waist in thinner and she is feeling so unbelievably beautiful, like she never has before.
This is one of my favorite encounters, watching a woman see herself differently, feel confident and love herself just a little bit more, Ok, a lot more!
No Underwires can be your friend, if you are having a bad day, get out of your Underwire, you will be amazed at how good you can feel!

You and your DD’s should be friends!
Whether you are “Live or Memorex” there will always be beautiful Lingerie that will fit you. Almost everyday, women walk into our store wondering if we might have one thing that will fit them, only to be pleasantly surprised that they cannot make up their mind as they have too many options and choices to choose from, and yes, layaway becomes an option!
Let me qualify “Live” which is natural breasts, not surgically augmented. Post kids, we call them “relaxed. Your breasts are perky when they need to be, then become the baby’s, then they are what we call, “Relaxed”.
“Memorex” is a breast enhancement or augmentation performed by a plastic surgeon.
Whether its an everyday bra from Chantelle, Le Mystere or Felina, http://www.felinausa.com, pretty bras from Sawren, Axami or Huit, they have their choice of many styles up to an “H” cup. Even convertible bras that you can wear 3-4 different ways, strapless, halter, T back or regular. Don’t forget the Strappidy-Do-Da beautiful beaded bra straps so you can change out your straps in style.
Gowns and Chemises that are particularly DD+ friendly include Claire Pettibone Athena Gowns, Mary Green 100% Silk 40’s Gowns, http://www.pamperedpassions.com/elegant_burnout_satin_gown_23636_prd1.html, both come in many different colors. Claire Pettibone chemises are also a wonderful alternative. (Short dress).
Arianne Camisoles are wonderful with their microfiber core and thick straps. Can be worn with or without a bra even for the “Live “ ones!
If you are “Memorex” the beautiful elegant Sworavski crystal, feather, and sequenced embellished Pasties make a wonderful accompaniment to any shelf bra or waist cincher. Make sure you are sipping Champagne in your pasties to really feel the full effect!
Lastly, if you are a DD+, just go up one bandwidth with a bustier purchase. Bustiers and Corsets typically are sized by bandwidth, your width around under your bustline. If you are typically lets say a size 36 go up to a size 38 with a purchase. Bustiers can be worn with or without garters, with pants, skirts and under jackets.
So the next time you are looking at your “Ladies” thinking you will never have fun in Fine Lingerie, think again, you will be happy to be so well endowed!

Behind the Scenes of Breast Cancer
I was compelled to write this blog with with the Holidays here with a vengeance. We hear so much about breast cancer and its survivors, but to work with these amazing clients day in and day out puts a different “spin” on your own perspective.
I am a Certified Mastectomy Fitter at Pampered Passions Fine Lingerie in Englewood, Colorado and have been working with breast cancer survivors for over eight years.
One day, I wasn’t feeling particularly “happy” with my own universe and had to work that day. My first three appointments were very profound and would change my life and perspective about my own personal troubles.
My first appointment was a woman who was thirty years old, pregnant, and with a three-year-old in tow. She was having a double mastectomy the following Monday and was being fitted for a Post Op Camisole. She was an amazing mother, and her courage overwhelmed me. Her spirit was such that she treated her ailment as a mere “inconvenience.” Life was going on and she planned to live it.
My second appointment was a sixty-five-year-old woman, financially destitute as she had a double mastectomy, many complications, and no insurance. Her life as we know it, the quality of anyway, is completely compromised from here on out and her life would never be the same. She said throughout the meeting with me that her life is what she makes of it, and she was going to make a difference however she might be able to for other survivors.
Lastly, a fourteen-year-old girl who had a breast removed and needed to be balanced out under her clothes. I see this wonderful, magical little girl every six months. She is amazing. She chides about only having one breast at her age. She has a confidence beyond my understanding. Wisdom beyond her years about her body and the “perception” of other people, especially in the girls’ locker rooms.
So needless to say, I was the one having a bad day, or so I thought. My issues after seeing the three clients who had appointments with me were so small. I call them “Paper Tigers.” Paper Tigers are ferocious and mean and eat you, but they are paper, invisible, and not really intimidating at all.
So the next time you go about your day and are upset with the “Paper Tigers” in your life, think twice if the issue is a real issue or just a Paper Tiger!
